Terms of use
Last updated: 25 October 2026
The agreement between you and Path, which is free alpha software for managing your own professional development.
About these terms
These terms of use govern your use of Path, professional development portfolio software that I, Michael Rowe, run as a sole trader, independently of any employer or other organisation. Where these terms say "I" or "me", they mean me, as operator. By creating an account or using Path, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Path is in a closed, invitation-only pilot and is free of charge. These terms will develop as the service does. The date above shows the most recent revision, and I'll flag material changes in the in-app notification bell.
Read these terms alongside the privacy policy, which explains how I handle your data.
Who can use Path
Path is in a closed pilot, for professionals managing their own development and for the organisations that support them. There's no public sign-up: each account is created from an invitation, one person at a time, and belongs to one person, including an account used to run an organisation in Path. Path isn't intended for anyone under 18.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity that happens under your account. I recommend turning on two-factor authentication (Profile → Account).
Please give accurate account information and keep it up to date. Tell me promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Acceptable use
Path is for documenting your own professional practice. When you use it, you agree not to:
- Upload content you do not have the right to share, or that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights.
- Upload patient-identifiable information, or special-category data about identifiable individuals, that you aren't entitled to share. Redact names and identifying details first.
- Attempt to access other users' data, probe or breach the security of the service, or disrupt its operation.
- Use Path to store content unrelated to professional development, or for any unlawful purpose.
Your content
You own the content you create in Path: your claims, reflections, CPD, evidence, statements, and other records. You are responsible for what you upload.
You grant me only the limited permission needed to operate the service for you: to store your content, display it back to you, and share it on your instruction (for example, with a reviewer through a link you create, with a mentor you share a path with, or with colleagues when you submit a path for internal review). I don't use your content for any other purpose, and I don't claim ownership of it.
You can export your content at any time (Account → Export your data) and delete your account, which permanently removes your content and uploaded files.
Availability and alpha status
Path is alpha software provided free of charge. I don't guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and I may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
There are currently no backups of Path's database or uploaded files. Backups will come before Path is used for organisational deployments, but until then anything lost through a fault can't be recovered. Please use Path with that risk in mind: keep your own copies of anything important and don't rely on Path as your only record. The export feature is there for this.
I don't yet hold professional indemnity or cyber insurance. I'll put both in place before Path takes on paying users or organisations.
No warranties
Path is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. I don't warrant that the service will meet your requirements or that any data will be preserved without loss.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and given that Path is provided free of charge, I'm not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit, or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Path and delete your account at any time. I may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, misuses the service, or puts other users or the service at risk. Where reasonable and lawful, I'll tell you first.
On termination, your right to use the service ends. Deleting an account permanently removes its content; the privacy policy has the detail.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. When I do, I'll update the date above and, where the changes are material, notify you through the in-app notification bell. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
